You only have one opportunity to capture your event in all of its glory! Once an event is over the moment is lost forever and without great photos to show it is difficult to easily convey your event. Don’t leave any chance of disappointment with the outcome of your photos. The easiest way to prevent this is to hire a professional! It will save you a lot of stress and guarantee you with photos that will make your event look amazing!

Although smartphones and gadgets on most current smart phones are excellent quality the question is can you really rely on your audience to crowdsource all of the key moments of your event? Of course we still do recommend to encourage your audience/guests to take photos using their phones as this is great for capturing moments & particularly sharing on social media but there is huge gap between phone snapshots and the high quality photos from a professional.

Here are our top tips to consider when looking for your perfect photographer:

Check the portfolio:
Looking at a photographer’s portfolio is so important when considering hiring them for your event. Specifically taking note of their previous event work and similar projects to your own as this will help give you an idea on how your photos may turn out and if their style suits what you are looking for.
Ask for quotations:
Give the perspective photographer as much information as possible when getting a quote off of them e.g. what time do you need them onsite, the type of work you’re looking for, the rights to the photos. This will help prevent any nasty surprises when the bill arrives.
Venue Knowledge:
It is important to consider has the photographer you have hired worked at the venue before? If not ensure that they arrive within plenty of time to find their way around, any specific room details and allow them to find key areas that would like to shoot in for good lighting etc.
Have a brief in advance:
The morning of an event is always hectic with lots of demands considering this it is best to have a written brief in advance of the day to save precious time for both yourself and the photographer to allow them to get snapping straight away! They don’t need a blow-by-blow description of every detail for the night, just the main activities and timings. This will help them plan their shots and ensure they won’t miss anything.

A professional photographer will be an asset to your event that you will not regret!
