8 ways to boost office morale in the workplace

PLANIT Event Management Company believes that office morale is so important in every workplace. Here are some tips on how to boost the office morale if your corporation or department is lacking in motivation.

1. Feedback

It is important to let your employees know how they are doing throughout the year. Providing positive and supportive feedback is important in order to keep their morale high. Feedback also allows for employees to work and improve their strengths and skills.

2. Employee Benefits

Offering benefits such as a gym membership, free breakfast, subsided lunches, free snacks (fresh fruits and healthy snack bars) or subsided travel expenses, allows an employee to stay motivated and happy in the workplace. After all happy employees = a successful workforce!

3. Teambuilding

A great way to boost the office morale in the workplace is to create or host a team building activity or day for your employees. Teambuilding exercises are a great way to improve the overall efficiency of your employees as well as allowing them to take their minds off things for a couple of hours and work together in various team based activities.

4. Morning Positivity

Positivity is the key to boosting the office morale. Therefore it is important that this positivity is there from the very second the employees step foot into the office. Playing or having an office morning chant song can allow employees to feel energized as well as creating a sense of community within the workplace.

5. Company Visions

It is important that employees know what they are working towards. Having positive quotes or visions around the walls in the office of what the company believes in or is working towards is a great way motivate employees and re-assure them what they can achieve.

6. Promotions

Promoting an existing employee from your team will keep employees motivated and allow them to stay far more committed if they know that there is opportunity to develop and advance their career within your organization. Co-workers will be incentivized to work harder.

7. Performance Appraisals

Rewards and recognition are another way to boost the morale of your employees. It allows employees to work towards achieving something and provides them with a sense of achievement when they win. Employee of the month or even the year is a great way to allow employees know that their hard work has paid off.

8. Office Parties

It is VERY important to celebrate holidays such as Christmas or birthdays to help build a strong work life balance relationship with employees. The event is always something for employees to look forward to and creates a sense of excitement around the office.

5 Summer Event Ideas for your Business

Planning a summer corporate event can be quite a difficult task to do. Event management for large companies is something that we here at PLANIT specialize in. Coming up with new and innovative ideas is something that excites us.

Here are some event ideas for throwing a summer corporate event:

1. Mini Outdoor Concert

Dance like nobody’s watching! Yes you heard us. Throwing a mini outdoor concert for your staff or clients is a fun and creative way for everyone to enjoy themselves. Let them dance the night away to music from different eras or different genres such as hip-hop, rock or country. Theming the corporate event concert is always a good idea such as doing a Glastonbury like theme or Body and Soul like theme.

2. Old School Sports Day

This summer corporate event idea is a true test to see who really is the office ‘team player.’ Random team selection is always the best idea to allow for fare and even teams. Set up different stations with various different sports at each one. The stations can vary from egg and spoon to wheelbarrow race to tag rugby tournament. There are endless amounts of ideas that you can use for your Corporate Summer Sports Day, so what are you waiting for? Ready, set, go!!

3. BBQ or Picnic

Food glorious food! Throw a summer corporate barbeque or picnic this summer. Have large rugs or blankets placed in a open park, along with some casual food stations such as a hog roast. This is a great idea for clients or employees to sit back and relax and enjoy a relaxed day or evening.

4. Summer Cocktail Party

Who doesn’t love a berrytastic cocktail? Throw a fancy summer cocktail party. This idea is always a great hit with clients or employees and enables them to kick the summer evening off with a bang. Have a range of different alcoholic and non-alcoholic stations such as a flavored water station or a gin and vodka station. These stations can cater to everyone’s likes and dislikes, allowing everyone to enjoy their night.

5. Street Food Event

Nowadays, street food trucks are everywhere. Throwing a summer street food event is a great idea to bring the whole office together. Different food trucks featuring different cuisines always goes down like a treat with everyone as it allows them to have a taste of numerous dishes at your corporate event.

How to turn your Data into Valuable Insights

Last week, on May 5th, PLANIT attended its second Google Business Breakfast in the Foundry Stage at the Google Headquarters, Dublin. There were a number of interesting insights given by Laura Bracken (Insights Lead, EMEA Brand Evangelist & Executive Strategy Team) on the day.

The information session was about turning data into insight. This is a huge topic that has been coming up time and time again. Data is a major issue nowadays in terms of trying to keep it secure and figuring out what to do with large amounts of it. Before analyzing any amount of data, Laura Bracken talked about focusing on the ‘Five Golden Rules’:

  1. Data as an Insight
  2. Set yourself a hypothesis and look to prove or disprove it
  3. Don’t reinvent the wheel Google may have already done it for you
  4. Even when you have found nothing you have found something
  5. Keep your finger on the pulse

These rules allow for businesses not to get distracted by the interesting insights and allow them to hone in on the crucial information that they have set out to strategically look for. However, do take note of these insights, as they may prove useful in the future.

One valuable piece of advice that PLANIT goes by is it that it truly doesn’t matter how much data you have, its knowing what to do with it and how to get it to the right people, other wise it is useless. So focus on what you want to achieve from analyzing your data and get the information to the right people.

Another Year & Another Successful CMRF Gala Ball

This year the Crumlin Medical Research Fund Ball (CMRF) took place on Saturday the 11th of March at The Clayton Hotel, Burlington Road, Dublin. The theme of this year’s event was Moulin Rouge.

From start to finish the event was such a success. PLANIT could not have enjoyed planning and styling this charity event for CMRF, Crumlin.

The Moulin Rouge Crumlin 2017 Ball fundraised an excess of €192,000k for the charity. LIKE WOW!!

A big thanks to Jean Whelan (Chair of the Ladies Committee), the CMRF Team, as well as all the CMRF Brand Ambassadors including Robbie Keane and the Irish Rugby players; Johnny Sexton, Dave Kearney and Rob Kearney. Another big thank you to the sponsors on the night, and to everyone who donated the amazing raffle & auction prizes. Without the help from everyone involved this night wouldn’t have been possible. SO THANK YOU!!

Why do all good things have to come to an end?? We honestly can’t wait for next year already!!

Keep an eye out on the CMRF website for event updates throughout the year.

How To Celebrate Easter With Your Employees

What is Easter without having some sort of event on? Nowadays, we can become so caught up and bogged down with work life, that it is nice to reward employees with some sort of break. And what better break to give them than to create some Easter themed activities or events in your office!!

Here are some of PLANIT’s ideas on how to Celebrate Easter in your Company:

Office Easter Egg Hunt

Deep down we all have that inner child inside us that we want to express. So what better way to let your employees express that child self than to throw and Easter egg hunt around the office. Spread plastic eggs throughout the office, with the incentive to find the biggest plastic egg. Award a prize to the person who succeeds in finding the biggest egg and to the person who collects the most eggs. This will be an hour of fun, where employees can have a laugh and forget about work for a bit.

Create an Easter Event

Easter is a time for giving, but also a time for spending it with family. So why not host an Easter family fun day for your employees and their families? It is one of the best ways to allow your employees to relax and enjoy some quality time with loved ones. At PLANIT, we love to plan corporate Easter parties. Whether it is in door or outdoor, we can accommodate your company’s needs. From coming up with the event theme to Easter invites to Easter activity ideas, we have it all and would love to help you with your Corporate Easter Event.

Easter Gifts

“Chocolate, chocolate and even MORE chocolate,” says PLANIT. Please and thanks! What better way to reward your employees than to surprise them with a well deserved Easter egg. Easter eggs are a brilliant way to let your employees indulge after working hard all week. Easter eggs come in all shapes and sizes so you don’t have to break the bank when you splurge this Easter.

It has been a tradition here at PLANIT for over 25 years to do a bunny drop for employees!! So go on and celebrate Easter is some sort of way with your employees or office!

5 Ways to De-Stress, Relax & Unwind Your Work Day

Nowadays there is a significant amount of stress put on individuals in the workplace. Corporate environments move at a very fast pace, leaving many individuals stressed and flustered with trying to reach targets and deadlines.

Here are some tips that PLANIT recommends you to use:

Find Your Stress Triggers

Stress can lead to many problems such as anxiety or depression. It is important that you identify specific stress triggers that affect you personally. By identifying these triggers early on, methods can then be used to prevent these stress triggers arising in the future.

Unplug

GET OFF YOUR PHONE!! Give yourself a digital detox for at least 10-20 minutes a day. Don’t worry your messages emails and calls can all wait. It is important to do this, so that you allow yourself to mentally unplug from these things and focus on the important things around you such as relationships, family or yourself.

Exercise

One of the biggest causes of stress is that people don’t find an activity or hobby to take their mind off things 3 to 4 times a week. Exercising for at least 45 minutes a day is so important. It can be anything from kickboxing to running to walking to Pilates, as long as it suits you and allows you to de-stress for an hour or so.

Meditate

Mindfulness in the workplace is so important. Meditating for 10 minutes each day allows you to unwind and focus on your breathing. Apps such as Headspace are a great meditating app that allows you to follow the instructions and focus for the allocated amount of time.

Eating Habits

This may be a little more obvious than the others but monitoring what you eat and making sure that you eat well is one of the keys to having a positive mind frame in the workplace. Another tip is to NOT eat at your desk. Many people have resorted to eating breakfast or lunch at their desk while they work. This is a big no no and will only result in poor eating habits, leading to a negative mindset.

At PLANIT mindfulness is so important for us as an event management team and it should be for you!! So use our tips and de-stress your way to a better work life.

If you would like to find out more information about the event management that we do at events to create mindfulness, please email: info@planit.ie or you can call us on 01 2011850 for more details.

PLANIT’s Experience at the Special Events Show 2017

From the 10th to the 12th of January, PLANIT Events attended the amazing Special Events Show in California. The show was certainly an eye opening experience for PLANIT and provided the team with lots of insights into upcoming event trends for 2017.

The two days consisted of over 200+ sessions and over 200+ amazing speakers. Over 5000+ event attendees attended the show. PLANIT Events are so lucky to have been a part of such a successful show.

Speaking to many industry leaders and exhibitors PLANIT gained some great insights and ideas. Many of our ideas have inspired some of our current events and future planned events to come.

It was exciting to get to listen to Mr. Brain Acheson President of VIP Events Inc. as well as David Anderson Founding Partner of The Eventive Group. These industry leaders are an inspiration to any event planner or event company.

The product showcase hall was definitely one of PLANIT Events favourites. The well-dressed tables by Arena Americas provided us with endless amounts of inspiration for all of our tabletop events to come. The surprise box by Flutter Fetti was certainly something we had never seen before. It was confetti taken to the next level! The Giant Led Foosball with 12 people was a very good idea by Party Pals, especially for corporate events.

These are just some of the many things PLANIT saw at the show. We can’t wait to share our ideas and inspiration with our clients and we especially can’t wait for next years Special Event Show 2018.
