Go Green!

In striving to apply the above principles at every opportunity we can offer professionally organised events and conferences that focus on applying best practices in ‘going green’.

We Use:

• Top of the range audio visual technologies that utilise low levels of energy
• Reusable conference sets
• Recyclable material for graphics and signage
• Conference packs that minimise print and paper e.g. through the use of reusable bags and the provision of conference material on branded USB keys
• Use of online as opposed to paper advertising
• Use of e-zine invites and electronic registration
• The provision of recycling facilities

Going it alone? What you can do to minimise the environmental impact of your events:

• Think Green - carry out an environmental audit of the event in advance and brainstorm what you could do differently that will reduce your carbon footprint
• Consider the environmental impact of your venue choice - reduce distances travelled by delegates and utilise public transport where possible
• Ask the venue to provide visible and accessible recycling services for paper, metal, plastic & glass
• Liaise with the venue to ensure that the lights and heating /air conditioning are turned off when the room is not in use
• Eliminate the use of paper, if you must print, print on recyclable paper and use both sides

A recent survey revealed that 73% of hotels currently implement an environmental policy. Below are some Irish based venues that we recommend for their green initiatives:

• The Guinness Storehouse recently appointed a ‘green team’ who are responsible for a number of new initiatives to encourage environmentally friendly practises for both staff and visitors

• The Stillorgan Park Hotel is the 2008 Double Eco-Friendly Award Winner of the Failte Ireland Silver Green Failte Award and the Evirocom Award for Best Example of Sustainable Energy in the over 50 employees sector

• The Brook Lodge Hotel has always been at the forefront of eco-friendly practices and is home to Ireland’s first, and only, restaurant to hold a Full Organic Licence

• Clontarf Castle Hotel is commencing a Green Hospitality Award Programme

• Killashee House Hotel & Spa has also been awarded a Green Failte Award
